results - any, unknown, none and multiple results

Meaning#

any is a contract-dependent value; unknown means the contract has not been established. These are not Lua type() results. none and C void have no direct return, but effects and output parameters may exist.

Example#

local ok, result = pcall(function() return 7 end)
-- boolean, then the function results on success.

What happens: ok = true, result = 7.

This fragment does not print or write a log message. The values shown are the expected results of the example.
