Purpose and preparation#
Despite its X4_gen_regions name, tomchk's README documents Blender animation export through AniXML to binary ANI, plus region generation. Egosoft marks the animation route outdated and points new work to the official Blender toolkit.
First exercise#
- For a historical project install the addon in a compatible Blender version using its README.
- Create animation and select objects named after component parts.
- Set a separate folder in Generator and use Export to AniXML.
- For a simple loop use AniXML to Ani; complex stages require category/subname preparation described by the author.
- Check ANI references and activation stages in component XML.
Expected result#
AniXML and ANI files should appear in the selected folder; the animation still needs the correct game binding.
Checks and limits#
This describes the author's historical workflow rather than verifying X4 9.00 compatibility. For new work use the official Blender toolkit.
