Separate text from data#

Game XML can refer to text as {page,id}. A new ship's name and description can use your own page without altering the original ship text. Choose a page ID that does not conflict with your extension set; no sample ID is universally free.

A text file#

The example is t/0001-l044.xml for English, with language ID 44. Add t/0001-l007.xml with language ID 7 for Russian, retaining the same page and entry IDs. Place files in the extension's t folder and verify reference resolution after loading. The filename number and internal text page ID are separate values.

XML
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
<language id="44">
  <page id="987654" title="Wiki ship example">
    <t id="1">Wiki Scout</t>
    <t id="2">A light scout variant.</t>
  </page>
</language>

References in a macro#

Update the relevant identification references in your copied macro. Do not replace a complete node with this short example: other required or useful attributes may exist.

XML
<identification name="{987654,1}" description="{987654,2}" />

Verification#

Open the game in every supported language. Check the name in the catalogue and object details, the description and the absence of ReadText errors. A text filename need not equal its page number.
